Fine-Grain Adaptation Using Context Information
نویسنده
چکیده
In this research, I explore how distributed applications can achieve fine-grain adaptation in a mobile environment. I put forth the thesis that this can be achieved by exploiting context information, and support the idea with two applications: browsing the web on a mobile device, and continuous remote health monitoring of individuals.

An Approach to Incremental and Modular Context-sensitive Analysis of Logic Programs
Context-sensitive global analysis of large code bases can be expensive, which can be specially problematic in interactive uses of analyzers. However, in practice each development iteration implies small modifications which are often isolated within a few modules, and analysis cost can be reduced by reusing the results of previous analyses. This has been achieved to date on the one hand through ...
متن کاملComparison of Context Switching Methods for Fine Grain Process Scheduling
Context switching times are a major source of overhead in medium to fine grain process scheduling. We compared three different context switching techniques for non-preemptive scheduling in context of hardware/software codesign, and found major differences in performance and code size efficiency.
متن کاملFine-grain Period Adaptation in Soft Real-Time Environments
Reservation-based scheduling delivers a proportion of the CPU to jobs over a period of time. In this paper we argue that automatically determining and assigning this period is both possible and useful in general purpose soft real-time environments such as personal computers and information appliances. The goal of period adaptation is to select the period over which a job is guaranteed to receiv...
متن کاملGlobal Adaptation Framework for Quality of Experience of Mobile Services
Nowadays, technologies are providing the mobile terminals with the ability to access to information and multimedia services from almost anywhere at anytime. However, the challenge is that in mobile applications, the surrounding environments are continuously changing, e.g. services are entering and leaving, quality of communication channels are changing, battery is decreasing, etc. In order to o...

A ne-grain parallel program is one in which processes are typically small, ranging from a few to a few hundred instructions. Fine-grain parallelism arises naturally in many situations, such as iterative grid computations, recursive fork/join programs, the bodies of parallel FOR loops, and the implicit parallelism in functional or dataaow languages. It is useful both to describe massively parall...
